DR. REGINALD PORTER, SR is the Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Porter holds a Bachelors degree from Memphis State University, Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry from Eastern Baptist Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has also served as Pastor at St. John No.1 Baptist Church in Jackson Tenn., Greenwood Baptist Church in Tuskegee Al., and Assistant Pastor at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Memphis.
A trained counselor he has led marriage seminars across the country, along with his wife of over forty years, Reverend Davena Young Porter. He is a contributor to “Living in Hell: The Dilemma of African American Existence and author of “Words for the Journey”.
Pastor Porter is currently serving as the Vice President At Large of the Southern Region of the Progressive National Baptist Convention. Dr. Porter has served on numerous boards. He has also taught, lectured, and preached across the country. The Porters have one son Reginald Porter Jr. and daughter- in- law Sonya Butler Porter and twin granddaughters, Sophie and Rowan.
