ATTENTION METROPOLITIAN TEENS
The Hattiloo Theater, in conjunction with the River City Chapter of the Links, Inc., is sponsoring the Black Theatre Museum February 14-17 at LeMoyne Owen College. We are asking teens at Metropolitan to be docents. This would be a great experience to help them with meeting and speaking skills. They will also get a very good lesson in Theater. It will be particularly good on the resume of any who are interested in drama or performing arts.
February 14-17 at LeMoyne Owen College (Training February 8, 2014)
There are four exhibits that represent the following eras:
- Reconstruction – minstrelsy, black face
- Early 20th Century – vaudeville, the Black presence on Broadway
- Civil Rights – McCarthyism, the Black Power Movement
- Afrocentrism – Black expression through the arts
The exhibits include:
- Live performances
- Video interviews of notable Black actors and playwrights
- Costumed mannequins
- Recordings from Black musicals
